Chromeo on Kimmel

Here's Chromeo's network TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live, performing the same song as the one in the video posted above. His show is typically awful, but he's been getting some damn good music on there recently. Justice comes to mind. Ordinarily I don't like to post live stuff, but Chromeo will always be an exception. I missed this as it aired, however, because I was getting my ears blown off by High on Fire. I'll post pics when I get the time, along with all the other ones I alluded to recently.

NEW CHROMEO VIDEO Part II

The song is "Bonified Lovin' (Tough Guys)" for those that don't know. It was and is my favorite track from Fancy Footwork, one of the best albums of 07 if you ask me. They also put on one of my favorite shows of 07 in beautiful Buffalo, NY this past July. There are plenty of pictures from the show in a past post. Remember when videos were not only good and worth watching, but fun? Here's a reminder.

I'll post those Draft pics soon enough. I went to the Ted Leo / Man Man show Monday night, so I'll get some shots of that show up as well. That is, when I can find the time.

Roctober is in Full Effect

I forgot to mention that I saw Peelander-Z and their zaniness at the Beachland Tavern last Friday. They are always a good time, and they didn't disappoint on this night. I forgot my camera, but Jen (the author of the food blog and someone mentioned on here in the past) took some great ones. Maybe one day they'll show up on the internet. I also tried to check out Dan Deacon at Case Western Reserve University this past Wednesday, but he cancelled. Maybe I'll see him and his wackiness one day.

In other news, I FINALLY saw a show at The Davenport, and it was a real doozy. The lineup was one of the best to come around in a long long time. It was headlined by The Draft, containing three out of four members of Hot Water Music, one of my all-time favorite bands. Also appearing were Dead to Me, which had a bunch of guys from the band One Man Army; Gaslight Anthem, a newer band that has a stream of their album on punknews.org. It's impressive. The lineup was rounded out by Echoes of Harpers Ferry, a Cleveland band that I hadn't seen yet, but I liked what I heard on their MySpace page, and they sounded good live. I took my camera, but only got pics of The Draft. And, since I'm busy with work and a lot of other stuff at the moment, I think I'm gonna hold off on posting them until tomorrow.

And, I made a trip to Music Saves (the record store near the Beachland Ballroom that's been mentioned on here in the past) before hitting up The Davenport & picked up some good stuff:

The new Les Savy Fav CD. It was nice to have a physical copy of this. I was considering the LP, but Music Saves didn't have it (it can be preordered from chunklet.com) and the other LSF albums I own are all in CD format. So, I stayed consistent.

This one was used for $1.99. I'm a big Sugar fan (and a Bob Mould fan in general) so I was pretty pumped to find this. The lead track is from the album File Under: Easy Listening, and I've seen it in dollar bins around the country. It's an awesome album, though. This maxi-single has three B-sides, and they're all great. However, I learned that they're all found on the Besides compilation. I never splurged on that one since I don't want it unless it has the bonus live disc attached. And, I haven't seen that version for less than a lot of money.

This was the big one. I purchased the new Jens Lekman LP as well. I went with the vinyl format for a few reasons. The main reason was the fact that purchasers of the LP got a free digital download of the album. So, you get it in both formats for the price of one. Secondly, I only own burned CD copies of his various albums, so I think I'll buy vinyl copies of them. I'd like the other two on LP, but didn't wanna be one of THOSE people that buys an artist's entire discography all at once. So, I only got the new one on Saturday. Also, it came with a free download for a session he did somewhere. I don't have it in front of me now so I can't recall the specifics. When I get around to listening to it, though, I'll post my thoughts here.

Ted Leo is going to rock the Beachland Ballroom tonight, and I will be in attendance. Man Man is opening, and I'm curious to see them. It should be a lot of fun. Roctober is really heating up!!!

Later.

I'm Still in a Jens Lekman Mood

In my last post, I gushed about the new Jens Lekman album, Night Falls Over Kortedala. Little did I know that a video was filmed for one of the tracks. Here it is:

Sipping on the Sweet Nectar

Pretty simple, but quality nonetheless.
